Civil Engineer – PE – Department Manager
- Responsibilities:
- The Civil Engineering Department Manager (CDM) reports to the Chief Production Officer (CPO)
- All aspects of the Civil Engineering Department including production oversight, personnel management, Client management and satisfaction, business development, scheduling, quality control and financial management including department performance.
- Leadership and Oversight of Project Managers performing the following functions (and self-performing):
- Zoning Reviews of municipal zoning and land development ordinances and agency regulations
- Site Investigation & Due Diligence Investigations
- Preparation of Concept Drawings based upon Client’s objectives and conclusions of due diligence
- Grading design including earthwork analysis, site grading and ADA compliance
- Design of utility systems, including stormwater runoff & conveyance, sanitary sewer collection, water distribution, etc.
- Soil Erosion & Sediment Control Design, including calculations, BMP’s, design and sequencing
- Project Coordination, including conferring with client, attorney, project team and Red Swing affiliates for the purpose of preparing a comprehensive site plan application
- Preparation of Written Correspondence with outside agencies, client, attorney, contractor, etc. inclusive of technical reports including drainage, sanitary sewer and site investigation reports
- Other duties as assigned
- Qualifications:
- 20+ years of Experience
- Professional Engineering licensure is required
- The ability to manage multiple projects and staff concurrently, while meeting deadlines
- Build and maintain Client contacts and relations
- A detailed understanding of Civil Engineering workflow processes, construction drawings, permitting, utility coordination, stormwater standards and design, erosion control, and approval processes
- Proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D
- The ability to manage, train and develop staff
- The ability to motivate and cultivate a positive working environment
- The ability to lead by example and hold individuals accountable for staying focused and avoiding distractions in the workplace
- The ability to prioritize and meet deadlines for projects
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, are required
