Dynamics Analyst (mechanical engineer)
This is a direct position with our client partner.
Your Responsibilities:
You will perform structural dynamic, shock, and seismic design & analysis of rotating electro-mechanical systems to assess new and existing equipment to optimize performance, safety, quality, and cost effectiveness for our power manufacturing facility, EMD (Electrical-Mechanical). In addition, you will design and conduct experiments including modal, vibration, and accelerance testing, collect data and interpret results, conduct, and write analysis and test reports.
Your Challenge:
- Capable of drawing conclusions and reconciling differences between predicted values and actual results.
- Plans and coordinates the design and analysis of complex engineering solutions including documentation, reporting, publishing, and making technical or other presentations. Works collaboratively within technical and project teams to achieve effective design solutions.
- Composes quality documentation and written communications including final design reports, test reports, engineering calculations of record, technical letters, and customer deliverables
- Designs new equipment and machinery as conceived to support program and project needs. Provides technical assistance in building, installing, and testing new equipment and test facilities to ensure production capabilities.
- Determines technical objectives and develops innovative, practical solutions to advance technical engineering problems in structural and machinery dynamics. Provides technical support to failure investigations and bid responses. Leads or contributes to technical design review activities.
- Leads technical teams in design and analytical activities for product design and development for structural dynamics and rotating equipment components. Mentors less experienced engineers and is involved in development of their skills.
- Plans and follows/leads dynamic, acoustic and shock testing of systems, assemblies, and components
- Composes and interprets technical specifications and product testing requirements.
- Provides task-based cost estimates, scopes of work and engineering schedules of high fidelity for the individual job function.
- Demonstrates fundamental project planning skills and understanding of cost and schedule implications
- Understands customer perspectives and inputs and takes appropriate responsive actions
- Contributes toward patents, technical papers, or articles.
What you Bring:
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, Advanced Degree with focus in Dynamics or Acoustics
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in the structural dynamics (structural analysis which covers the behavior of a structure subjected to actions having high acceleration) or shock analysis field (ex. A motor is under a lot of stress, how much stress can the motor take”)
- Work experience with large rotating devices in the nuclear industry
- Effective composition, documentation, and presentation skills
- Must be sole US citizen and be able to obtain and maintain DOD security clearance.
