Structural Engineer
Engineer to engage in structural calculations and develop designs in conformance with codes & standards.
Scope
Under direct supervision, completes engineering assignments of limited complexity for civil and structural disciplines. Takes the lead in the preparation of calculations, specifications, reports, and project studies. Works to specifications, and written and verbal instructions in accordance with established design practices, codes, standards, and procedures
Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science from a four-year accredited college or university
- Civil/Structural engineering experience – various levels open from 0-5 years, 5-10 years, 10+ years of experience
- EIT is preferred. PE registration beneficial
- Ability to read and understand GA’s and equipment drawings
- Experienced in writing construction specifications beneficial
- Understanding of IBC, ASCE, AISC and ACI codes
- AutoCAD experience beneficial
- STAAD, SP Mats, MathCAD, or Microsoft Excel experience
- Familiar with structural steel and foundation design
- Able to conduct field investigations to verify design conditions
Responsibilities
- Initiates engineering calculations in conformance with the project requirements with supervision.
- Prepares construction specifications or general notes
- Reviews drawings supplied by fabrication vendors, clients and other disciplines
- Conducts field investigation to obtain information to support the project needs
- Maintains proper engineering files and records
- Ability to work independently for developing structural calculations and reports
